Tony Martin

Tony Martin
Ozzy Dio Ian Gillian or Tony Martin?

Who was Sabbath’s Best Vocalist?
My money is on the original….Ozzy, but I am a huge fan of Sabbath’s entire career and I pretty much like every album they have ever put out
But it’s Your opinion I want….
And feel totally free to toss out any fave Black Sabbath songs or albums You like while We’re at it
Actually Sabes
I think Ian Gillian IS just a hair better of a singer than Ozz OVERALL
But Ozz suits Sabbath better
I Love Born Again though
G********G D****T!
Why do I ALWAYS forget Gleen Hughes!!!!!!????
URGHHHHHHHH

For me Ozzy is the quintessential Black Sabbath front man.
Ronnie James Dio definitely took the band in a new direction with his writing style, which at the time was re-freshing for some fans of the band.
I saw the ‘Black and Blue’ tour in 1979 (I think), and Dio was fantastic. I saw them a couple years later with Ian Gillan, and he really ruined the show for me. His voice was terrible that night. If I recall, several people left the venue, that’s how bad it was. I loved him with Deep Purple, and on his own. His ‘Gillan’ LP (Japanese only release) was fantastic!

But for me, he just didn’t belong in Sabbath. Neither did Tony Martin in my opinion.
Ozzy for me…with Dio as runner up!

Yeah I forgot about Glenn Hughes as well! He had a great voice, but I preferred him with Deep Purple, or Trapeze.
Don’t forget about Bill Ward! He had a fairly decent voice in a Beatlish/Karen Carpenter sort of way…haaa!
