How do I communicate my company’s weakness to my boss and upgrade their technology?
Our home development company is growing quicker than our support structure. There is not enough man power,
limited or wrong communication between three sites.
manually doing P.O.’s, Invoices, change orders.To much disorganization in the office.
A lot of redundant paper work with incomplete or incorrect info on it.
We need a server, computers, phones, software, organization.
How do I solve this without freaking out my micro-managing boss who does not use computers?
You can write a brief proposal, with a couple of diagrams or flow charts that detail how you think the process can be improved. Also detail cost of implementation, cost of training everyone to use the new system, etc. A projected timeline that details how long all this would take would be helpful, too. The caveat to all this is that you will need to prepare yourself in case they ask you to oversee the transition. Can you handle it?
Don’t listen to these average workers. If you think you can help your company, you will help yourself by being increasing your overall value and reputation. You may even get a raise. Good luck!
